Crocodylus Park

Story time

When I first moved to Darwin to suss my husband and living in Darwin I signed up for a business course in CDU. At that time they did Virtual Enterprises (VE) and Crocodylus Park was the enterprise attached to CDU.

During my time there, I built what I guess is my first ‘proper’ website on Wix for the VE. I’m sure it’s still floating somewhere in the internets but when Emily and Ash approached me to revamp the *real* Crocodylus Park website, it was one of those full circle moments. Cue the ugly crying, haha.

The main Crocodylus Park’s website (screenshots below) hadn’t been updated quite possibly since the turn of the century, so it was definitely time for a new one!

Multiple landing pages 01

Hooo-boy, we definitely made full use of Squarespace’s index functionality to create heaps of landing pages for the stacks of information that they have!

Cross linking content 02

When you're presented with a site this large with content, it's always good to give little avenues for your audience to adventure around the site. You’ll see there’s little links across the site to different parts of the site to create a better user experience.

Linking to the in house POS system

We’re a huge advocate for working with integrating with in house systems. The croc park team wanted their visitors to book tickets and encounters online so by creating buy now ticket buttons, we linked the website to their booking system.

The ultimate result in this was their conversation rate for online ticket sales - on the week we soft launched the website the ticket sales skyrocketed!

Site designed for functionality 03

When we say “built for functionality” we put in a lot of custom coding for certain functionalities across the site so that the when the schedule is updated, the changes go across the multiple places the schedule is shown. This extra coding also means there’s no need to worry about extra styling before uploading images or needing to hunt for the gosh darned page where a copied content would be.

Full blown photoshoot 04

We got Minh Thang Media on board for the project and we did 2 full shoot days!

Massive job with multiple planning sessions and many scout meets with the croc park team because we didn’t want to get eaten, haha.
